Alpaca Ventures, home to over 100 alpacas as well as paint horses and beef cattle, is located on a 225-acre farm nestled in the Laurel Mountains of Western Pennsylvania. Raising Angus beef cattle was established as a business but the profit, after years of investment and hard work, was at best miniscule. Breeding and raising horses has been merely a hobby. However after intensive research regarding the Alpaca industry Mike and Diane couldn't find any flaws. The potential to earn a substantial income within a few short years of owning an alpaca business is very possible. The concept, the financial opportunity and the joy of raising Alpacas is certainly rewarding.

Embracing this opportunity they have been determined to 'Buy aggressively and buy only the best quality' and have selectively purchased high quality alpacas from 50 different breeders throughout the country. From those numerous bloodlines they have assembled several alpacas, both Suri and Huacaya. As they continue to selectively and aggressively purchase alpacas, Alpaca Ventures is becoming one of the largest alpaca farms in Pennsylvania.

The breeding program is developed not only for the rarest of coloring in the offspring but also for the quality necessary to compete in the show ring. This is summed up in the founding principle of "Quality Breeds Success". Quality Alpacas are essential to viable, lucrative and sustainable business operation.

One of their best acquisitions has been Cantano of Peru, a phenomenal Suri herdsire, purchased for the 2002/2003 World Record Selling Price of $265,000. Incredible density and luster with flawless conformation and unparalleled fiber quality, Cantano has proven to reproduce his deep burgundy color. His offspring have the same beautiful color, great heads and tight, lustrous penciled locks. He is the cornerstone of their Suri breeding program and his offspring are performing very well in the show ring. To date, he has produced 100% Suri offspring with 95% color, a great track record! Breeding to Cantano of Peru not only virtually guarantees colorful and gorgeous babies but also adds significant value to their customer's breeding program. It is with great sadness that Cantano of Peru is no longer living due to a tragic farm accident. Some of his rare offspring remain available for a short time. Now would be the best time to obtain these "rare" genetics.
